With housing affordability, a central goal of the Jane Castor administration and City Council, the City of Tampa is creating a new team dedicated to helping individuals connect with critical housing services and resources.

The City is launching a Tenant Services Team to work in conjunction with the existing Housing Information Line, which was activated in June. The new Tenant Services Team will guide individuals to the programs and services that best meet their needs.

At Thursday's City Council meeting, Nicole Travis, Administrator of Development & Economic Opportunity, presented an update on the development of this new team.

"Our mission is to continue to address our housing affordability challenges from multiple approaches," said Mayor Jane Castor. "The Tenant Services Team will be another useful resource that will enhance the customer experience and further support our residents during this difficult time."

Additionally, a $75,000 pilot program will be implemented, at least through the end of the year, to help those residents who need legal advice or representation in dealing with housing-related issues. The City of Tampa has entered an agreement with Bay Area Legal Services that will allow the City to refer cases that require legal assistance.

More details and contact information for the Tenant Services Team will be released as they become available.
