Tampa’s Department of Solid Waste and Environmental Program Management has been notified to close the University of South Florida (USF) Recycling Drop-off Station located at 504 USF Sycamore Drive, Tampa, FL 33617. Although the facility is designed to support waste reduction and recycling, the USF staff spends several hours per week collecting household trash, unwanted furniture, tires and other discarded miscellaneous debris at the location.  Subsequently, the misuse of resources and illegal dumping at this facility has created a negative environmental impact.

“We understand USF’s challenges associated with maintaining an unattended recycling drop-off facility.  I would like to thank the USF community for several years of partnership in support of our waste reduction program.” said Director, Mark Wilfalk.  The City will begin to look for additional sites to potentially accommodate supplementary recycling drop-off facilities. Any future site will be announced and placed on the City of Tampa’s website at www.tampagov.net/Recycle
