The City of Tampa joins the US Conference of Mayor in a moment of remembrance for the victims of COVID-19 and to pray for our community during this difficult time.

Over 100,000 lives have been lost in our country due to the coronavirus outbreak. In response to this tragic milestone, the US Conference of Mayors has partnered with national religious organizations of various faiths in a call for National Day of Prayer and Remembrance on June 1st, 2020.
“Today I urge everyone to take a moment to remember the lives tragically lost due to COVID-19. Each life represents beloved family members, friends, and neighbors.” says Mayor Jane Castor. “As we honor the victims of this virus, we pray for healing. Healing for the families and loved ones of those left behind, healing for those whose lives have been completely disrupted by this crisis, and healing for our city. Our community is grieving together in many ways, but I know that by leaning on each other during this difficult time we can get through this together.”
Mayor Castor and the City of Tampa urge all residents to continue practicing COVID-19 safety and doing their part to protect our vulnerable neighbors. For safety information and tips, visit  tampagov.net/COVID-19
Due to recent events, National Day of Prayer and Remembrance is also an opportunity to pray for our city and country in the wake of injustice and civil unrest.
In observance of National Day of Prayer and Remembrance, several local pastors, elected officials, and Mayor Jane Castor, will gather on Monday, June 1, 2020 at Noon for a peaceful prayer demonstration in front of Tampa Police Headquarters at Lykes Gaslight Park at 241 East Madison Street in Tampa. The City of Tampa will also ring the bells at Old City Hall and churches throughout the city at Noon.

The public is encouraged to join us in prayer.
