The City of Tampa’s Green Spine cycle track, which currently runs through Downtown Tampa, as part of Mayor Castor’s Transforming Tampa’s Tomorrow platform with a focus on Vision Zero, is being extended into West Tampa and Ybor City

Phase 2 of the project in West Tampa is located on Cass Street between Rome and Boulevard, and along Rome from Kennedy to Cass.  This phase of the project is currently under construction as part of an active Stormwater drainage improvement project.

Phase 3A of the project, which extends the cycle track into Historic Ybor, will begin construction in the near future.  The City released an advertisement for construction firms to bid on the project late last week.

Once all phases of the Green Spine project are constructed, the City of Tampa will have a continuous 3.4-mile protected bicycle facility that connects Howard Avenue in North Hyde Park to Cuscaden Park in V.M. Ybor, providing immediate access to a dozen neighborhoods.
