Yesterday, Mayor Jane Castor welcomed Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas to Tampa today with a fun welcome ceremony at Tampa International Airport.

Super Bowl LV ambassadors and Mayor Jane Castor gave a warm welcome to Kansas City fans as they arrived in Tampa today. Upon Mayor Quinton Lucas’s arrival, Mayor Castor greeted him with a basket full of Tampa treasures, including cigars, Gasparilla beads, a Bake’ n Babes freakshake, and enough craft beer for Kansas City fans to drown their sorrows when the Bucs win.

In return, Mayor Quinton Lucas also gave Mayor Castor a basket full of Kansas city goodies including Kansas City BBQ, craft beers, and various items from local businesses.

“We couldn’t be more excited to have Kansas City as our opponent in SBLV,” says Tampa Mayor Jane Castor. “We hope Mayor Quinton and all the visiting fans have a fantastic time discovering all that our beautiful Tampa Bay region has to offer, and that they don’t leave feeling too upset when the Bucs crush the Chiefs on game day.”

The City of Tampa would like to thank all those who donated to Mayor Lucas’s welcome gift basket!

In the spirit of good sportsmanship, Mayor Castor and Mayor Lucas also established a win-win bet, meaning whatever the outcome of SBLV both cities will send a gift to frontline workers. In Tampa, the Columbia Restaurant Group will donate lunch to a shift of frontline workers at TGH. In Kansas City, Gates Bar-B-Q will donate to members of SEIU Local 2 who have been working hard throughout this pandemic to keep our frontline workers safe
