DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING FOUNDATION TO HOST LARGEST CITY OF TAMPA MLK DAY PARADE

Nearly 150 parade acts are registered, making this the largest City of Tampa MLK Day Parade to date!

TAMPA, Fla. - The Martin Luther King Parade Foundation, Inc., is gearing up for its largest City of Tampa Martin Luther King, Jr., Day Parade Yet! On Monday, January 16, 2023, the Foundation welcomes back headliners, Bethune-Cookman University Marching Wildcats, the Miles College Purple Marching Machine, and the Edward Waters University Marching Band! These three dynamic bands will be joined by nearly 150 high school marching bands, floats, motorcycles, horses, dance groups, and cars--the biggest parade to date.

The caravan will wind through the streets of East Tampa tossing colorful beads and candy to the 30,000+ children and families along the two-mile path. The parade lines up at Cucaden Park (2900 N. 15th Street, Tampa) and takes off at Noon. It ends at Middleton High School (4801 North 22nd Street, Tampa). The parade will be led by Grand Marshal Hillsborough County Commissioner Gwen Myers.

Each year, the MLK Foundation hosts activities to celebrate the life and legacy of Civil Rights Activist the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The parade is one of the most anticipated events of the year in Tampa. Parade volunteers are still needed. Please contact 813-803-8060 for more information.

ABOUT THE MLK FOUNDATION

The Dr. Martin Luther King Parade Foundation was formed in the year 2014 for the expressed purposes of expanding, improving and strengthening efforts to make the City of Tampa’s Martin Luther King Day Parade an event the city could be proud of year after year. Honoring the roots of the organization and the ideals of Dr. King himself, each year the Parade Foundation sets aside some portion of the proceeds from gala sponsorships, parade fees, and other donations to provide scholarships to a diverse set of deserving high school students.
