Tampa Convention Center was proud to facilitate the donation of 841 pounds of supplies to benefit teachers and students in Hillsborough County Public Schools. Two Tampa Convention Center clients generously donated the items following their events at the center in Tampa, Florida.

Florida Thespians, an educational theater group, donated unused items to Tampa area schools following the 2023 Florida State Thespian Festival. AMDA, The Society for Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Medicine, also donated items after their annual conference, PALTC, at the Tampa Convention Center.

The items were donated through a partnership between the Tampa Convention Center and the Hillsborough Education Foundation’s Teaching Tools Resource Center. The program allows teachers from Hillsborough County Title I schools, or schools with high numbers or percentages of children from low-income families, to shop for free, much-needed supplies.

Items donated included masks, hand sanitizer, COVID-19 tests, socks, bags, lanyards,  t-shirts, and more. Teaching Tools accepts a variety of items that can be used by schools in the Tampa community, such as school supplies and promotional items.

Tampa Convention Center encourages event planners and exhibitors to donate unused items. This aligns with the center’s commitment to sustainability and is cost-effective by eliminating shipping or transportation fees.
