Details: Tampa Police responded to the report of a shooting along Columbus Dr. early this afternoon. The victim, an adult black male, was transported to a nearby hospital before officers arrived. He is currently listed in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries.
The victim is reported to have just left the Columbus Court Apartments when his vehicle, a sliver Infiniti was struck by gunfire. Upon being hit, the victim veered into oncoming traffic and crashed into a silver GMC occupied by an adult Hispanic male and Hispanic female. The occupants of the GMC were not injured. The driver of the Infiniti exited the vehicle and fled from the scene on foot.
It is early in the investigation and detectives are working to develop leads in the case. There is currently no description of the shooting suspects or any suspect vehicle description. Anyone with information is asked to contact Crimestoppers of Tampa Bay at 800.873.TIPS.
