Una has been a pillar in our city government, leading Tampa’s economic engine and tourism powerhouse. Our iconic Convention Center has become a world-class venue under her innovative and passionate leadership, and we are truly grateful for her relentless commitment to our great city. Over these past four decades, Una has served in several roles, beginning as a Secretary II in Administrative Services in 1981. Over the years, she discovered her strengths, absorbed every aspect of the business, and mentored those following in her steps. Her remarkable talent, skills, and experience led her into senior roles and ultimately to the position of director in 2019. Una has helped shape our local tourism and hospitality industry and impacted the lives of countless visitors who left with unforgettable memories and the desire to return to Tampa. When we think of a hard-working and dedicated public servant, Una Garvey is an excellent example.

On behalf of the City of Tampa, we thank her for her service and wish her the very best in this new chapter of her life, which she is eager to dedicate to her husband, children, and beloved granddaughter. She’s also planning to travel the world.
