City Welcomes New Deputy Administrator of Development and Economic Opportunity

The City of Tampa is excited to welcome Geri Lopez as its new deputy administrator for Development and Economic Opportunity (DEO). 

Serving within the Development and Economic Opportunity portfolio led by Administrator Abbye Feeley, Ms. Lopez will be responsible for Community Redevelopment, Economic Development, Real Estate, and Tampa's Convention Center. 

"Geri's extensive expertise in public-private partnerships and fostering resilient communities has earned her the reputation of a results-oriented leader, making her a great fit for this unique role," said Administrator Abbye Feeley. "With thirty years of experience in creating prosperous communities, I am confident she will be a trusted advisor in DEO's key initiatives." 

Prior to joining the City of Tampa, Ms. Lopez worked with Ernst & Young's Economic Development Advisory Services, where she developed economic strategies for states, regions, counties and cities, analyzed programs and incentives and advised on organizational effectiveness. Prior to this, she served as Director of Redevelopment and Economic Opportunity for Manatee County, Florida, and as Director of Economic Development and Housing for the City of Clearwater, Florida. In these roles, she managed economic development, redevelopment, and affordable housing programs, created strategic plans, and led real estate projects.

Ms. Lopez holds a Master’s in City Planning from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from Yale University, and a Certificate in Community Real Estate Development from the University of South Florida. She is a certified Economic Developer, member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI), and volunteers with Enterprising Latinas Inc.

Ms. Lopez's first day with the City of Tampa will be July 21st.
