City of Tampa Activates Cooling Stations as Record-Breaking Heat Continues

TAMPA, Fla. (July 28, 2025) — Following Tampa’s first-ever recorded 100-degree day on Sunday, July 27, breaking the city’s all-time heat record since record-keeping began in 1890, the City of Tampa is activating cooling stations as more dangerous heat is forecasted for the area this week.

With temperatures expected to remain in the upper 90s and the heat index ranging from 106 to 112 degrees, a Heat Advisory remains in effect today from noon to 7:00 p.m. To help residents stay safe, the City of Tampa is activating cooling stations for anyone in need of relief from the extreme heat.

Cooling Stations will operate at the following locations:

  • Barksdale Adult Activity Center – 1801 N. Lincoln Avenue, 33607
  • George Bartholomew Center – 8608 N. 12th Street, 33604
  • Cuscaden Pool – 2800 N. 15th Street, 33605

Hours of Operation:

  • Monday, July 28: 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM
  • Tuesday, July 29 – Wednesday, July 30: 10:00 AM – 8:00 PM

Cooling Stations are open to all residents, especially those without access to air conditioning, and offer a safe, air-conditioned space to cool down.
