TAMPA, FL. (OCTOBER 21, 2025) - - Tampa Police Officers quickly recovered a stolen fire engine and arrested the suspect this morning.
Preliminary information suggests that at approximately 9:25 am, 59-year-old Warren Scudder (white male, 02/20/1966) stole the fire engine while firefighters were inside St. Joseph's Hospital. Scudder drove off, crashing into a gray Lexus SUV near Dr. King Blvd and MacDill Ave. The adult male driver of the Lexus reported hip pain following the collision and was being medically evaluated by hospital staff.
Tampa Police Officers were immediately dispatched and quickly located the stolen vehicle. By 9:38 am, officers successfully surrounded and blocked the engine's path in the 4100 block of Poplar Ave.
Scudder was taken into custody without further incident. He has been charged with Grand Theft Auto and Hit & Run. Additional charges may be pending.
This remains an active investigation.
