TAMPA, FL. (FEBRUARY 2, 2026) - - A new generation of public servants is ready to protect our community as twenty-four individuals prepare to take their oath as full-time and reserve Tampa Police Officers.
Mayor Jane Castor and Chief Lee Bercaw will officially welcome the new recruits during a swearing-in ceremony on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at 2:00 pm in Room 116 of the Tampa Convention Center. This ceremony represents more than a career milestone; it reflects the ongoing a commitment to the safety and well-being of everyone who works, lives, or visits Tampa.
The incoming class reflects a diverse blend of local talent and seasoned experience. Over half of the new officers are graduates of the Tampa Police Recruit Scholarship Program, a vital initiative that removes financial barriers for aspiring officers and creates a direct pathway for local talent to serve their own neighborhoods. These recruits will serve alongside seven individuals who bring years of prior law enforcement expertise to the streets of Tampa. The Tampa Police Department is also proud to welcome six military veterans, including two Marines and four U.S. Army soldiers, who are transitioning from defending our nation to protecting our city.
The ceremony is open to the public, and everyone is encouraged to attend and welcome these dedicated individuals as they begin the mission to work in partnership with our community to reduce crime, improve quality of life, and make Tampa safer, together.
For those who cannot attend in person, the ceremony will be live streamed on www.facebook.com/TampaPD.
