GET TAMPA READY: City leaders to outline 2026 hurricane season preparations
TAMPA, Fla. (May 21, 2026) – As the 2026 Atlantic Hurricane Season approaches, the City of Tampa is outlining emergency preparedness efforts and sharing updates on public safety resources available to residents at a press conference planned for Friday, May 22, at 10:00 a.m.

The event will feature updates from city leaders, emergency management officials, utility partners, and transportation and port representatives on evacuation planning, stormwater readiness, power restoration preparation, emergency response capabilities, and steps residents can take now to prepare their homes and families.

As part of this year’s preparedness efforts, the City will also unveil its first-ever City of Tampa Hurricane Guidebook, a comprehensive, easy-to-read resource designed specifically for Tampa residents with city-specific guidance on what to do before, during, and after a storm. The book includes key emergency contacts, evacuation information, and preparedness resources all in one place.

Residents can ensure they are "Tampa Ready" by following three simple steps:

  • Make an evacuation plan
  • Create an emergency kit
  • Stay informed

The City of Tampa will host the 2026 Tampa Fire Rescue Hurricane Preparedness Expo on Saturday, May 30, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Cordelia B. Hunt Community Center in Al Lopez Park, 4810 N Himes Avenue.

The free community event will give residents the opportunity to connect directly with emergency management experts and learn more about hurricane preparedness.
