TAMPA, FL. (MAY 26, 2026) - - Tampa Police are investigating the deaths of an adult male and an adult female in two related incidents that occurred early Monday morning.
At approximately 1:20 am on May 25, officers responded to the 6900 block of N. Central Ave. after receiving reports of an idling vehicle in the middle of the roadway. Upon arrival, officers discovered an adult male, the sole occupant of the vehicle, deceased from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
As that investigation was underway, at 6:23 am Tampa Police were dispatched to a residence in the 200 block of E. Patterson St. for the report of an unresponsive adult female. Preliminary evidence revealed smoke and structural damage inside the home, indicating a fire had recently occurred. The female victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. As detectives continue to gather evidence, the Medical Examiner’s Office will determine her official cause of death.
While both investigations are in the very early stages, detectives determined these were not random acts and they have confirmed that the deceased man and woman were known to one another. Investigators are working to determine the exact nature of the relationship and the events leading up to both deaths.
Detectives are asking anyone with any information that could help their investigation, or who may have relevant home security video, to call Tampa Police at 813.231.6130 or contact Crime Stoppers of Tampa Bay at 800.873.TIPS.
Updates can be provided as the investigation allows.
