The World Cup Comes to Tampa: City to Host Community Watch Party Friday

The City of Tampa is inviting residents and visitors to come together to celebrate the world's game during a FIFA World Cup Watch Party on Friday, July 3, at The Sail Plaza outside the Tampa Convention Center, 333 N. Franklin St.

The free community event begins at 4 p.m., with kickoff between Cape Verde and Argentina at 6 p.m.

As Cape Verde continues its impressive World Cup run while calling Tampa home during the tournament, the watch party offers fans an opportunity to cheer on the team while also welcoming Tampa's Argentine community as they gather to support Argentina.

"The FIFA World Cup has an incredible way of bringing people together across cultures, languages, and borders," said Mayor Jane Castor. "We're proud to host Cape Verde as they continue their remarkable World Cup journey, representing their nation on the world's biggest stage. This watch party is an opportunity for our community to come together, celebrate the game, and show why Tampa is such a welcoming place for fans from around the world."

Four additional large video screens will be installed throughout The Sail Plaza to provide expanded viewing space for attendees.

The event is free and open to the public. Food and beverages will be available for purchase from The Sail.
