TAMPA, FL. (AUGUST 28, 2026) - - The Tampa Police Department continues to investigate the tragic events of August 21, 2026, in the 3500 block of N. 15th St., which investigators have classified as a murder-suicide.
In the early hours of August 21, 2026, Tampa Police Officers responded to the residence, where they located an adult female in her mid-20s who had sustained a fatal gunshot wound.
An adult male, now identified as 51-year-old Armario Gilbert (black male, 10/19/1974), was found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound and succumbed to his injuries shortly after.
Evidence gathered by detectives indicates that both parties knew each other, and that Gilbert shot the female victim before taking his own life following a dispute inside the home.
The female victim's three uninjured minor children were also safely located within the residence during the response. Protecting the safety, privacy, and well-being of these children is our highest priority. To ensure they receive comprehensive support during this difficult time, the Tampa Police Department Victims Advocate is actively working to ensure they are connected with any resources they may need.
This remains an active investigation.
