Water Department Helps Residents Navigate Extended Regional Drought Restrictions
The Tampa Water Department is urging customers to follow mandatory once-a-week watering restrictions and continue conserving water, as the Southwest Florida Water Management District extends Modified Phase III Water Restrictions through March 31, 2027.
Our region is experiencing a 12-month rainfall deficit of 15.4 inches. Many communities are still seeing severe or extreme drought conditions.
As part of the City of Tampa’s water restrictions, customers can only irrigate their lawns once a week on their designated watering day. Customers are further limited to watering during the hours of 12am to 4am or 8pm to 11:59pm, as part of the regional drought restrictions.

To assist with water conservation, the Tampa Water Department will host another Compost Giveaway on October 23 & 24, providing customers with free compost and mulch to improve soil quality and increase the soil’s ability to retain water. Additional information, including event details, will be available at tampa.gov/water in the coming weeks.
