Tampa Leaders Highlighting Public Safety Investments Supported by CIT

This information is 1 month old and may no longer be accurate.

On National First Responders Day, October 28, Mayor Jane Castor will join City Council Chairman Guido Maniscalco, Police Chief Lee Bercaw, and Fire Chief Barbara Tripp to highlight how the Community Investment Tax (CIT) has contributed to public safety operations and resources.

The event will feature a display of emergency vehicles from the Tampa Police Department and Tampa Fire Rescue, which were crucial in recent emergency responses during Hurricanes Helene and Milton. These vehicles and equipment were funded in part by CIT revenue.

Video footage of first responders putting their equipment to work during Hurricane Milton can be found on the Tampa Police and Tampa Fire Rescue social media platforms.

About the CIT

Since 1996, the CIT has provided funding for public safety resources, infrastructure, parks, schools, and transportation projects throughout Hillsborough County. Media outlets will hear how this funding has benefited Tampa’s emergency services and enhanced their ability to serve residents.
