Tampa Goes BIG for America’s 250th

The City of Tampa is pulling out all the stops to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary with "Liberty by the Bay," a high-energy, family-friendly Fourth of July celebration set to light up Julian B. Lane Park and the entire downtown waterfront on Saturday, July 4, 2026, from 4 pm to 9:30 pm.

This milestone event will feature a spectacular 250-drone light show honoring the nation’s 250th birthday, followed by a fireworks finale, creating one of the most memorable Independence Day celebrations in Tampa Bay history.

Beginning at 4 p.m., residents and visitors can enjoy an afternoon and evening packed with entertainment along the Tampa Riverwalk, including:

  • Kids Zone with family-friendly activities
  • Food trucks, vendors, and a beer garden
  • Live music and DJs
  • The Humane Society of Tampa Bay Patriotic Pet Show at approximately 5 p.m., featuring a contest for the most festively dressed pets
  • The Friends of the Riverwalk Water Ski Show at approximately 6 p.m.
  • The Glazer Children’s Museum Kids Liberty Procession at approximately 6:45 p.m., where children can showcase patriotic costumes from across America’s history, including making their own costume on-site.

The evening’s headlining events begin at 9 p.m. with a drone show featuring 250 drones, followed immediately by a fireworks display over the Hillsborough River.

In addition to festivities at Julian B. Lane Park, the entire Tampa Riverwalk will come alive with celebrations, including a Patriotic Boat Parade organized by the Friends of the Riverwalk and additional fireworks displays at nearby Armature Works and Jackson's Bistro on Harbour Island.

"This is a once-in-a-generation moment, and Tampa is ready to celebrate in a big way," said Mayor Jane Castor. "As we mark 250 years of American independence, we’re bringing our community together on the waterfront for a celebration filled with pride. Liberty by the Bay will showcase everything that makes Tampa special, and we can’t wait to celebrate with our residents and visitors."

Liberty by the Bay is a free event and open to the public, offering something for all ages as Tampa honors this historic national milestone.
