The City of Tampa's Solid Waste Department has launched a new Trash and Recycling App in an effort to make it easier for residents to stay connected about the Department’s trash, waste reduction and recycling programs.
Residents can download the mobile app, Tampa Trash and Recycling, for Apple or Android smartphones. The app can be also be found on our website tampa.gov/Recycle for convenient calendar and waste items search.
In the app, you’ll find garbage, recycling, S.W.E.E.P. and special events pickup collection, such as Christmas tree collection, schedule specific to your house address. The mobile app can also remind you of your collection day via push notifications on your smartphone. Other features include:
- Collection reminders by email, phone call, or text message.
- Collection schedule sync to your iCal, Google, or Microsoft Outlook calendars.
- Option to print your collection schedule.
Also in the app or on our website, you can search the Waste Sort to find out if a material can be reused, donated, recycled, composted, or disposed of. Searching for items like rechargeable power drills, to aluminum foil, to old shirts is easy and a list of methods are provided for each item to make sure you dispose of your waste or other items properly.
“Safety is our number one priority," said Larry Washington, Interim Director of the City of Tampa's Solid Waste Department. "Making sure hazardous items like household chemicals and rechargeable batteries end up at the appropriate drop-off location its critical. We know this app will help us make a lot of progress in that effort."
It is recommended that residents check our website at least once a year for updates on schedules or program guidelines. However, with the Tampa Trash and Recycling app, staying updated is a whole lot easier!
