The Economic Opportunity Department is responsible for developing and managing the City of Tampa’s initiatives to promote a comprehensive and strategic approach to economic development. It serves as the liaison to the City’s supported cultural venues such as the Tampa History Center, the Florida Aquarium, the Straz Performing Arts Center, Tampa Museum of Art, the Glazer Children’s Museum, Zoo Tampa, and more.
Transforming Tampa’s Tomorrow Mayor’s Initiatives (T3)
Economic Opportunity Department regularly collaborates with a broad spectrum of internal city departments and external community partners to drive the Mayor’s Transforming Tampa’s Tomorrow initiatives for Affordable Housing, Infrastructure and Mobility, Workforce Development, and Sustainability & Resiliency. We regularly collaborate and coordinate with the Community Redevelopment Department revitalization initiatives in the designated CRA areas. The Economic Opportunity Department directs other revitalization efforts outside of the CRA area and collaborates with the City Planning Department on community planning efforts throughout the city.
