Mayor Buckhorn Appoints Una Garvey to Acting Convention & Tourism Director

Mayor Buckhorn has appointed Una Garvey to Acting Convention & Tourism Director. 


“Una has been a steadfast employee with the City of Tampa for the last 35 years,” said Mayor Bob Buckhorn. “Her ability to provide top-notch customer service while managing a world-class team and facility will be integral as we continue to elevate our customer service and, next year, unveil an impressive renovation. We couldn’t be more pleased by the leadership she’s shown throughout her tenure and we wish Rick Hamilton well as he moves on to his retirement.” 

“I am honored by the opportunity and the confidence that Mayor Buckhorn places in me as the newly appointed Acting Convention & Tourism Director,” said Una Garvey. “It will be a pleasure to serve in this new capacity as we continue to make the center one of the best in the nation. Having been involved in the grand opening in 1990, this facility and city run passionately through my veins.  I look forward to working with this team of consummate professionals that strive for excellence every day and make Tampa the place where people want to come.”

 

Una is a 35 year City of Tampa employee with 17 years prior experience working in Facilities Management.  She has been at the Tampa Convention Center since 2000 serving in the capacity of Guest Services Manager, Exhibit Services Manager, Community Relations Director and Convention & Guest Services Director. She graduated from Northwood University with a  BS in Business Administration.
