Project Location

Map of project location.

Project falls within City Council District 6

Project Description

W. Spruce Street is functionally classified as a Neighborhood Collector Road with a posted speed of 30 MPH. The corridor is approximately 1.0 mile long. The existing roadway from west of Manhattan Ave to Lois Ave is a two-lane roadway and from Lois Ave. to Dale Mabry Hwy is a two-lane roadway with a two-way left-turn center lane. The proposed project would consist of roadway resurfacing and targeted improvements to the corridor to address operational and safety issues and alleviate congestion.

The City is currently conducting preliminary engineering of the corridor to determine potential improvements. In an effort to improve traffic flow and relieve some of the traffic congestion at the Spruce Street and Dale Mabry Highway intersection.  The City is also coordinating with the FDOT and the Walter’s Crossing shopping plaza owner representatives for design and construction of a dedicated EB right turn lane at the Target driveway entrance at Dale Mabry Highway. As other corridor improvements are defined, the City will continue public involvement and community outreach to share with, and solicit input from, the residents of the surrounding Carver City/Lincoln Gardens and MacFarlane Park neighborhoods.
