Protect Yourself From Utility Scams

Be alert for scammers posing as City of Tampa employees and demanding immediate payment for an overdue utility bill. Scammers may make their calls appear to come from the City of Tampa Utilities Call Center, so don’t rely on caller ID or let a sense of urgency pressure you into making a payment.

If you receive a suspicious call, hang up. Verify your account at utilities.tampa.gov or call the Utilities Call Center directly at (813) 274-8811.

When in doubt, don’t pay. Hang up and call us directly.

City of Tampa Utilities provides drinking water and wastewater (sanitary sewer) services to customers located in the City of Tampa, as well as parts of unincorporated Hillsborough County and Temple Terrace. Reclaimed water is currently only available in portions of Tampa's reclaimed water service area.

Solid waste, including trash, recycling, and yard waste pick-up services provided by the City of Tampa are only available to customers located within City of Tampa limits south of Fowler Avenue, excluding the New Tampa and University areas.
