Self-Guided Walking Tours

Public Art After Dark: Skip the hat and sunscreen and take a tour after sunset of Tampa’s artwork after dark (download PDF)Beginning in 2006, the City of Tampa began illuminating downtown with light-based artwork through the acclaimed Lights On Tampa program. A decade later, many of these art installations are still shining brightly, and downtown is a-glow after dark. This tour includes “Agua Luces”, the bridge lighting initiative led by Mayor Buckhorn and Tampa Electric and Peoples Gas. All artworks are illuminated every night, after sunset.

Public Art Along the Tampa Riverwalk:  The Tampa Riverwalk is a gorgeous, 2.4 miles of uninterrupted sidewalk along the Hillsborough River. Through the heart of downtown Tampa, the Riverwalk takes you through 6 parks, by restaurants, museums and, of course, Public Art. The northern-most segment of the Riverwalk was the last to be completed (summer of 2016), and features several permanent art installations – just a short walk from Waterworks Park to the Tampa Museum, you will see gorgeous sculptures, a colorful glass installation, and murals that wrap a parking garage. The Tampa Riverwalk also has an historical monument trail that tells the story of many noteworthy people in Tampa’s history. Visit the Tampa Riverwalk web site for all of the events and festivals that are produced throughout the year.
