City Council Actions on Use of Floor Area Ratio (FAR)

  • On April 15, 2021, the Tampa City Council moved to schedule the proposed Interim Development Control Ordinance for first reading on May 6, 2021. This ordinance will put into effect beginning on June 1, 2021, that the City shall not accept rezoning applications which utilize the Floor Area Ratio (FAR) calculations for single-use, multi-family projects in any UMU-60, CMU-35, and CC-35 land use categories. April 15 Interim Development Control 
  • On April 1, 2021, the Tampa City Council moved a resolution issuing a notice of intent to adopt an ordinance amending the Tampa Comprehensive Plan, Future Land Use Element removing the ability to utilize floor area ratio (FAR) for single-use residential development, within the Urban Mixed Use-60 (UMU-60), Community Commercial-35 (CC-35), and Community Mixed Use-35 (CMU-35) land use categories. April 1 Resolution 2021-273
