Collage is an expressive art form made by layering and gluing materials like photographs, fabric, and paper. Rooted in the French word coller, meaning “to glue,” collage invites artists of all levels to create meaning through the arrangement of found materials—no previous experience necessary.

In this 2 to 3-hour workshop, artist Marian Tagliarino will guide participants through a dynamic, hands-on experience. The session will begin with an introduction to Marian and the history of collage, followed by a warm-up exercise to get the creativity flowing. Participants will explore a variety of materials and learn simple yet powerful collage techniques through demonstrations and guided practice.

The class structure is a mix of lecture, group discussion, individual project time, and interactive support. Participants will be invited to share their project ideas, work in a collaborative circle or connected desks, and receive one-on-one feedback as Marian moves around the room, offering guidance and encouragement.

Join us for a lecture with José Bedia, an artist featured in the exhibition Under the Spell of the Palm Tree: The Rice Collection of Cuban Art. A prolific collector of photographs, Hall became enamored with photography during childhood and later shared his passion with the Tampa community as one of the founding members of the Florida Museum of Photographic Arts (FMoPA). He collected 20th-century masters such as Berenice Abbott, Eugène Atget, and Edward Weston, and specialized in photography between World War I and World War II. An avid photographer himself, Hall collected works by contemporary photographers including Judy Dater and Robert Hartman. Focal Point: The David Hall Photography Collection takes an intimate look at the collector’s eye and traces major developments in 20th-century photography.

Remix is a series of make-and-take art workshops for adults inspired by the Museum’s current exhibitions with a new project every month. Workshops are designed to be enjoyed by participants of any skill level and all materials are provided. Explore the world of Encaustic art, an ancient form of painting with hot pigmented beeswax. During this course participants will learn about encaustic history, materials, and safety. In this 4-day workshop, students will explore a variety of techniques such as incising, layering, pigment sticks, mark-making, mixed media collage and monotypes Designed for beginners and advanced skills alike, we will work together to focus on taking your encaustic creativities to a new level!

Gina White is an encaustic artist and educator teaching workshops and private lessons in encaustic in the Tampa Bay area.

Assisted by guest R&F Core artist Shelley Jean, is an educator who has taught in the public and private sector for 34 years. She currently teaches encaustic throughout Florida, the US, and internationally.

In Witch Hunt or, A Discourse on the Wonders of the Invisible World, written by Liz Duffy Adams, ten years after Abigail Williams, the instigator of the witch trials, disappeared from Salem, she turns up at the tavern of her fellow ex-witch-hunter, Mercy Lewis. About to leave the colonies forever, it’s her last chance to understand the madness that overtook them. But with war threatening northern New England yet again, Mercy and her fellow townspeople are in no mood for Abigail’s doubts, which suggest complicity with the devil. And just when everything is most dangerously tense—the devil himself shows up.
