Want to participate in our area's long-term water resiliency goals? The Florida-Friendly LandscapingTM Incentive Program (FLIP) is a hands-on education and rebate program designed to help residents reduce outdoor water use while building beautiful, resilient landscapes.

Developed in partnership with the University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS) Extension and Hillsborough County, FLIP provides residents with expert guidance, practical training, and potential financial incentives to convert portions of irrigated turf into water-wise, Florida-friendly landscapes.

Rebate Opportunity

Participants who successfully complete three workshops and install their approved Florida-friendly landscape design can apply for a FLIP rebate for qualified expenses.

Application guidance and landscape evaluations are included as part of the workshop series.

What will you learn?

Participants will attend the three guided workshops below based on the nine principles of Florida-Friendly LandscapingTM. 

The goal? To replace up to 500 square feet of irrigated lawn using a UF/IFAS-guided landscape design.

  1. Micro-Irrigation & Site Selection Workshop

    Learn how micro-irrigation works and identify an area of lawn suitable for conversion.

  2. Landscape Design Basics Workshop

    Explore garden themes and design principles to create a functional, attractive landscape.

  3. Plant Selection & Soil Preparation Workshop

    Choose appropriate plants and learn how to prepare soil for long-term success
