Project Overview

The City of Tampa is combining the current Fair Oaks Community Center, Herbert D. Carrington Sr. Community Lake, and several recently acquired adjacent properties to create a 10.2-acre East Tampa Recreation Complex. The goal is to expand on the services and activities at the current Fair Oaks Community Center, while adding a new senior center to provide services and activities for our active older adult residents. Additional recreational activities such as dance and improvements including a full-size gymnasium are planned for the new recreation center.

This significant investment increases recreational opportunities for residents of all ages and brings our community together. A Request for Qualifications package was advertised in early 2022. In July 2022, Skanska USA Building Inc. was selected through the Consultant's Competitive Negotiations Act (CCNA) process to lead the Design-Build Team consisting of Howard + Associates, Architects, Convergence Design, AREHNA Engineering, Inc, Campo Engineering, Inc, Dark Moss, DeCaro Wilson, OCI Associates, Inc., Brightwater Solutions, VoltAir, Strategist Project Support Services, and KVJINC PR. Public outreach begins February 2023, with construction being complete by 2026.
